About the Event

Join Friends of Alta and Paul Brooks from the University of Utah for a presentation and discussion on the importance of mountain snowmelt to Utah, the western US, and to semi-arid regions around the world. The presentation will cover a diversity of topics, including those suggested by you, ranging from the role of snowmelt in the development of civilization to current hot topics (pun intended) like climate change, fires, forest mortality, and the future of Great Salt Lake.

Friends of Alta is proud to welcome Paul Brooks is a professor of Hydrology and Biogeochemistry. His research focuses on the interactions between climate, water, ecosystem structure, and society with particular interests in seasonally snow-covered mountains.
